After a country track: before and after
Your Jazz rap note named a Country piano. It was left behind by a country track. When Auto had played country, and you then switched Auto off, picked another style and switched it on again, the country band stayed on the chords, the top line and the bass, and no later track ever took them back. That is mended.
What was wrong, and how often
| What was played first | A new start in another style kept the band | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Any of the four country kinds | 120 starts of 120 | 0 of 120 |
| The Asian, Irish, classical and jazz styles | 0 of 570: they never left an instrument behind | 0 of 570 |
Counted into Jazz rap, House and Lo fi, ten starts each from every style. Ten country instruments could be left behind: Country piano, Country bass, Fiddle, Session mandolin, Twin fiddles, Slap upright, Tenor banjo, Harmonica, Button accordion and Mandolin chop. Inside one run, with country and another style turn about, it never happened.
A sound you pick yourself is still kept, as before. Put a country or Asian or Irish instrument on a part by hand and Auto leaves it there.
Three styles, each started after a country track
Each clip is the first minute of the new run. Before and Now start from the same numbers. The drums and the chords are the style's own in both; what differs is the instruments, and with them some of what Auto goes on to pick.
House, after a Honky tonk track
Chords on the Country piano from the start, bass on the Slap upright from about 8 seconds. The top line (a Fiddle) rests all the way through.
Chords on Rave stab, bass on Reed bass. The top line (Crystal ping) rests all the way through.
Lo fi, after a Bluegrass track
Chords on the Mandolin chop and bass on the Country bass from the start. The top line (a Tenor banjo) comes in at the break, about 49 seconds in.
Chords on Sleepy head, bass on Velvet. The top line (Grand piano) comes in at the break, about 49 seconds in.
Jazz rap, after an Outlaw country track
This is the case of your note. The Country piano is on the top line from the first bar.
Chords on the Electric piano. Top line on the Country piano from the start. The bass (Velvet) comes in with the groove, about 22 seconds in.
Chords on the Electric piano. Top line on the Alto flute, then the Grand piano. The bass (Click sub) comes in with the groove, about 22 seconds in.
Your own track, Cipher Nights, as you heard it and as it plays with this fix, is on the Jazz rap page: jazzrap-6618.webby.danielmccarthy.name (the third clip of "The same 8 bars with every part in").
One case read, not tried
If Auto has put a country instrument on a part and you then pick that very same instrument on that same part in the browse box, the groovebox cannot tell your pick from Auto's, so the next style takes it away. Pick any other sound first, or the same one on another part, and it is kept. This is read from the code. It has not been tried in a browser.
Not in this fix
| What | Where it stands |
|---|---|
| A country track you kept in the library, opened later, with Auto then started in another style: the band still stays | Its own small piece, next |
| Six kept tracks already carry the Country piano on chords and top line: two country ones, and four that are not (two Relaxation, Velvet Night, Cipher Nights). They stay as they were kept | Not changed |
| The screen names an instrument for a part that is resting. Auto's read out does so in 37 bars of 100, in every style. That is how the Country piano was on your screen while the top line was silent | Counted. Its own piece: the name of a resting part goes dim |
| The feedback note you send tells the team the wrong sound for the chords when they are played by keys or stabs | Counted. Its own piece |
Every style plays note for note as before (checked on two runs of each), and no saved song is touched.
